RESULTS
The observation during the experimentation were as follows.
Rubbing Rods
After rubbing the metal and plastoc rod with tissue paper and placing each rod near tissue bits, the students observed that only the plastic rod moved (attracted) the bits.
Plastic Sheet
Placing the two plastic sheets near each other has no effect on any of the two. Rubbing both and positioning them close to each other creates a repulsive force, pushing each other away.
Plastic sheet and Tissue bits
Nothing happened to the tissue bits when the plastic sheet is placed on top but a rubbed plastic sheet attracted the tissue bits. Touching the rubbed plastic sheet after rubbing decreased the attractive force.
Electroscope
Placing a plastic sheet near the metal knob of the electroscope does nothing but rubbing the plastic sheet before placing it near the knob made the two foils inside the electroscope repel each other, creating an inverted V shape. Removing the plastic sheet, the foils return to their original position.
Placing a rubbed plastic sheet on the knob does nothing. There is only a brief moment of repulsion between the foils before the plastic sheet and the knob touched then the foils return to their original position.
If the student touches the rubbed plastic sheet before placing it near the knob, the repulsive force is less than not touching the plastic sheet.
Van de Graaff
The tissue paper pom-pom appeared to be moving away from the sphere making it look like they are stiff.
