It is true that some computer hardware still only works with proprietary
software but in practice this is a problem the free software community
is very good at addressing. Graphics cards, printers, wireless
communications and even the computer BIOS are all examples of devices
which formally could only be run using proprietary software but now have
fully functioning free alternatives.
Therefore the FSF continues to stand by its policy of using only free
software and developing free alternatives for those hold-outs where only
a proprietary piece of software will do.
