5 – The bible grew out of religious experiences of the people of Israel. It shows their understanding that grew with their relationship with God.
  -- 3 types of history--
Oral – Stories told, sung, history recounted + memorized
Written – Written stories, history recorded, guides, instructions.
Edited – Selected the best of what was wirtten.

6 – Beatitudes are blessings or promise of true happpiness. They are the stepping stones on the path to the kingdom of heaven.

*Blessed are poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven
-recongnize their strengths and weaknesses
-happy with who they are, arent fake
- admit they need God
*Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted
- Sensitive
-Not selfish
*Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
-mild, good natured
-don’t use others
-don’t abuse (verbal/physical)
*Blessed are those that hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisified
-stand up for what is right
-believe in giving people lots of chances/opportunities
-work for justice, and are involved in human rights
*Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy
-they remember that they sin, and need forgiveness
-they forgive others and don’t hold grudges
-don’t make big deals about mistakes
-they forgive people, and let them make-up their mistakes
*Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God
- Honest and sincere
-they follow their conscience
-committed to the well-being of all
-consistent
*blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons and daughters of God
-learn to fight-fair and strive for win-win outcomes
-committed to solving problems in non-violent ways.
-willing to compromise which often requires createive thinking/solutions
*blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
-stand up for what they believe in being concerned about their reputation etc.
-they are courageous, not afraid of being made fun of, teased, punished. Killed etc.


7 --a christian relationship must have respect , dignity.
be strong in good and bad times
benefit everyone involved
set boundaries stick to them
both people stay the same they dont change
each others priority
challenges each person to be better then who they are
- virtues are attitudes and behaviors that make us more inclined to choose what is good even when we dont stop to think first - help us become more disciplined and channel our negative emotions so that we avoid doing things we regret . 



8 – We pray because God wants us to tell him what is on our minds. Even though he sees and understands our situations better than we do, he still wants to hear from us in our own words.
The five types of prayer are, Praise, (Telling God how wonderful he is) Thanksgiving (telling God thank you) Confession (tellling God we’re sorry), Supplication (asking for help) and intercessory (ask God to take care of someone else)…
